Gongali House

In 2002, when we aquired this land atop a small escarpment in Gongali, near Karatu, it had been under cultivation for many years and at that time there was only a stand of tall Eucalyptus trees near a dirt track with no name. We planted indigenous trees and brought water up by oxcart when the rains failed. Slowly the seedlings we planted held and among them thorn trees broke through the red soil. Today we enjoy a home in a small island of bush, looking out toward the forests of Ngorongoro, the Crater Rim and Mount Loolmalasin. Birds and various small wild mammals such as African Hare, Dik Dik and mongooses love it.
